Lot’s Wife

But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt

And he looked out toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the Plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the land went up as the smoke of a furnace

Title:      Lot’s Wife

Size:       1.60m x 1.05m (63in x 41in)

In the tapestry LOT’S WIFE, my intention is to capture, as if frozen, the tragic moment of the transformation into salt. All of the artistic elements strive to match the drama that is taking place in the story. It is as if everything has congealed into small patches and big blocks of salt, earth, fire, and sulfur.

The characters almost become one with the landscape, identifying one with the other in shaded colors that mimic the tragic event. The figures become a part of the natural setting and their colors harmonize with the landscape that surrounds them.
