Title: Eve

Size: 1.60m x 1.20m (63in x 47in)

In EVE, the tree stands out prominently. The tree itself plays a significant role in my artistic interpretation of the Creation story. The tree in the tapestry is seen as transforming into the woman—while the woman takes on characteristics of the tree itself. As EVE tastes the forbidden fruit, her “eyes opened,” her arms turn into branches reaching skyward while her legs become rooted to the earth. Eve grounds us for all time, seeking spiritual understanding from the heavens.

Against the sharp contrast between the shaded and deep colors of the background, I have shown the subtle shape of a primeval animal that symbolizes the snake—while Eve, as the pure woman/tree, becomes aware of her nakedness and shakes.
