Sylvia Feinstein-Lecturing In Latin America

In 1994 I had the great opportunity to travel from Israel to Latin America where my first stop was Santo Domingo.  After a long 20 hour flight – when I had no sleep at all –  I discovered that my suitcase had been exchanged with someone elses.  So  – the first portion of my time in this beautiful city was spent dealing with the long hassle of retreiving my belongings.

Early the next day we travelled the 2 hour journey to a most special landscape where Altos De Chavon Cultural Center Foundation was located.  There I gave my first lecture at the School of Design.

During the return trip – exhausted after spending a long day travelling and lecturing – I stopped at the Regional Museum of Archaeology, I learned about the Artists in Residence program and visited the Gallery, a space dedicated to contemporary art. By the time I finally returned to Santo Domingo city I felt as though I was in a cloud – I was unsure whether or not the many people I had come in contact with had really felt my excitement and completely understood my message.

I had a most exciting trip of two months travelling to seven (!) countries and lecturing in various situations.  My return to Israel found me rewarded by the following letter which confirmed to me that I had indeed been understood.  I rolled up my eyes to the heavens and said to myself: “yes!”.
